Most people think of grocery shopping as a chore—an unpleasant blip in what’s supposed to be a relaxing weekend. Wouldn’t it be so much more fun to stroll through a fun array of individual stands selling fresh food with a gentle summer breeze at your back? A farmers’ market is a great and fun way to buy high-quality, local food and Middle Tennessee has no shortage of them. Here are our favorites:
Rutherford County Farmers Market
This farmers’ market is located in Lane Agri Park right off of I-24, and is open on Tuesdays and Sundays. As a “producer only market,” the Rutherford County Farmers’ Market only offers products grown directly by the farm offering it for sale. Enjoy fresh veggies, Rutherford County grown meats, and even natural dog treats!
Franklin Farmers Market
If you’re looking for a fun (and delicious) way to spend a Saturday, then bring your family down to the Franklin Farmers’ Market for the afternoon. This farmers’ market started as a group of eight local farmers in 2002 and has since grown to over 70 participating farms! You’ll find fresh produce, baked goods, dairy, meats, and even crafts made by local vendors.
Nolensville Farmers Market
This lively farmers’ market takes place every Saturday morning through November 27. Come shop from an array of vendors that range far beyond what you’d expect to find in a traditional farmers’ market, including pasta makers, jewelers, fashion designers, and more.
